This strategic partnership will ensure access to high-quality BLS training for MMA’s members across all 13 states and three federal territories. Importantly, it will also remove barriers for members to maintain current certification in BLS – a critical life-saving skill.

Course Outlines
The BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. This course builds on your understanding of critical systems, and takes a deeper dive into the science of CPR.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the critical body systems and critical life functions
- Understand the way BLS augments failed or malfunctioning critical systems
- Provide high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- Explain the Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Understand how important the early use of an AED is to patient health outcomes
- Provide automated external defibrillation
- Provide effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Understand the importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation
- Perform as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
- Relieve foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
The ACLS course builds on the livesaving skills provided by the BLS curriculum, continuing to emphasise the importance of uninterrupted, high-quality CPR and introducing appropriate advanced interventions.
Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Related pharmacology
- Management of ACS and stroke
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
The course curriculum is based on the most recent American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and follows the guidance of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).
The course is aimed at healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel involved in emergency medical services.
The BLS-I Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who wish to become certified to teach Basic Life Support and Layperson CPR & AED. This course builds on your BLS certification and explores mastery of the material, teaching and delivery as well as basic concepts in androgogy.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the attributes of an effective instructor
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of an Instructor
- Describe the teaching, learning, and assessment cycle
- Understand the implications of DEI as it applies to adult education
- Explain the importance of inclusive teaching
- Understand the Fleming Learning Style model and how it applies to adult learning
- Understand the Honey & Mumford Learning Style model and how it applies to adult learning
- Apply Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle in Adult Education
- Understand and employ the principles and practices of assessment
- Demonstrate mastery of all knowledge and skills in the BLS curriculum

Become an Instructor
To become an instructor under this program with X3SI you must:
- Complete a BLS-I course or provide proof of current BLS certification along with either a) proof of instructor status with an accepted organisation, or b) a Level 3 qualification in education or training or higher.
- Complete the application form.
- Pay RM100 application processing fee
Your documents will then be reviewed and validated by our team. This process can take up to 14-days if we have to verify instructor status or qualifcations with a 3rd-party organisation.
Once your documents have been validated and your application processed, you will receive notification of the outcome of your application.
If for any reason your documents do not validate, your application fee will be forfeited.
