Course Overview
This course teaches the basics of extended care in low resource environments where definitive care may be severely delayed or inacessible.
This course has no prerequisites. Upon successful completion, participants receive certification, valid for three (3) years.
This course meets the recommended curriculum of the Wilderness Medical Education Collaborative and successful graduates will be awarded both a WFA and AFA certification.
Course Schedule
Day 1: General Principles, Vital Signs, Patient Assessment, Lifting Moving & Extrication, BLS, Anatomy & Physiology, Critical Systems Problems
Day 2: Allergy & Anaphylaxis, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Wounds & Burns, Exposure Illness & Injury, Toxins & Envenomations, Submersion Injury, Electricity & Lightning Injury
Day 3: Simulation, Exam
